Covering Wellington from just outside Taunton
Wellington is about as close to home as our work gets. We're based on the edge of Taunton, and the town is a short run west along the A38. That makes it easy for Jason to come over, get up and have a proper look at a roof, rather than guessing from a description on the phone.
Whether you've noticed a damp patch on a bedroom ceiling, a few tiles on the lawn after a windy night or a gutter that overflows every time it rains, the first step is the same. Call, tell us what you've seen, and we'll arrange a time to come and look.
Wellington homes and what goes wrong with them
Like most Somerset market towns, Wellington has a bit of everything. Around the older streets you'll find Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many with slate roofs and brick chimney stacks. Further out there are post-war semis with concrete tiles, and newer estates where the roofs are younger but the details still matter.
Each type has its own weak spots. Old slate roofs tend to suffer from nail fatigue, so slates slide out of place one by one, and the lead around chimneys and party walls has often been there for decades. Concrete tile roofs are heavy and long-lived, but the ridge and verge mortar cracks with age and lets wind and water in. On newer houses the trouble is more likely to be a flat roof on a garage or extension, or a dry verge system that has worked loose.
Repairs and leaks
Most calls we get from Wellington are for repairs. That covers replacing broken or slipped tiles and slates, rebedding and repointing ridges, fixing verges and sorting out storm damage. Our roof repair page explains how we approach that work in more detail.
If water is already coming in, our guide to what to do when your roof is leaking covers the safe steps you can take indoors while you wait. We offer emergency leak call-outs, and the aim is always the same: made safe fast, then put right.

Chimneys and guttering
Plenty of Wellington houses still have their original stacks, whether or not the fireplaces are used. Wind and rain gradually wash out the mortar, pots work loose and the flaunching on top cracks. We repoint, rebuild, reflash and cap stacks; see our chimney repair page for what that involves.
At the other end of the roof, gutters that sag, leak at the joints or overflow can soak a wall for years before anyone notices damp inside. We replace guttering, fascias and soffits as a complete job, which is set out on our guttering, fascias and soffits page.
Re-roofs and spray foam removal
Sometimes patching no longer makes sense. If the felt under the tiles has perished or you're calling a roofer every winter, a full strip and re-roof with new membrane, battens, tiles or slates and leadwork is often the better use of your money. Our re-roofs and new pitched roofs page goes through it.
If you're selling or remortgaging a Wellington property and the survey has picked up foam sprayed onto the underside of the roof, we can take it out and check what's underneath. Read more on our spray foam removal page.
How quotes work, and nearby towns
Phone 07399 680142 between 8am and 5:30pm on weekdays or 8am and 3pm on Saturdays, or send a message through our contact page. Jason will come out, look at the roof and talk you through the options. You then get a free written quote, for domestic and commercial roofs alike.
We also work right across Taunton itself and up to Bridgwater, and further out to Minehead and Chard. For everywhere else, see the full list of areas we cover.
